手彫証券印紙 第三次発行　「浅野周夫コレクション」/ Japan Hand Engraved Documentary Revenue, 3rd Issue (native paper, perforated) - Norio Asano Collection

日本郵趣協会秋田支部長であられる浅野周夫氏が長年に渡って収集された手彫証券印紙コレクションのうち、氏が特に力を入れられた第三次発行印紙のコレクションの全貌をご紹介いたします。JAPEX2016にて金銀賞(Vermeil)を受賞された４フレーム作品と、リーフ枚数制限から割愛された予備マテリアルリーフを合わせた86リーフです。

この度、縁あってこのコレクションを継承することができましたので、旧・古屋厚一コレクションに収蔵されていた銘品の数々を含む極めて貴重なコレクションを何らかの形で記録して継承すべく、限定版の私製カラー冊子を作成し、あわせて冊子製作に用いたコレクションリーフのスキャン画像の全てをこのコレクションルームでご紹介することといたしました。含まれているヴァラエティー（定常変種）や使用例は、このミュージアムの第三次発行印紙の額面毎のコレクションルームでもご紹介していますので、併せてご覧いただければ幸甚です。

手彫証券印紙の作品は、古屋厚一氏、長谷川純氏の両巨頭の作品がそれぞれ2003年と2022年に刊行されていますが、それらを除けば殆ど目にすることができません。その点においても、この浅野コレクションは貴重な記録であり、また、手彫証券印紙のコレクション整理を行う上でのリーフ設計の面でも有用な参考資料となりうるものと考えています。

第三次発行印紙は収集することが難しく、かつ、ヴァリエーションも豊富であり、統合的なコレクションを一から構築することは極めて困難です。このコレクションをさらに発展させ、願わくば今後の競争展での出品に繋げたく思っています。

This Collection Room is dedicated to exhibiting the specialized collection of Japan hand engraved documentary revenue, 3rd Issue (native paper, perforated) compiled by Mr. Norio Asano and has been transferred to and inherited by myself (Unesaki).

The 3rd issue revenues could be considered as a transitional series between 2nd Issue (native paper, rouletted) and 4th Issue (foreign paper, perforated), or as a forerunner of the 4th Issue. The actual period of issue/printing is unknown, but it is considered to be limited, between Meiji 8 (1875) and Meiji 12 (1879) or so. Also, due to the rather thick gum and inferior quality of the (native) paper, materials in good condition are hard to acquire - thus forming a comprehensive and specialized collection might be the most challenging among the five issues.

Mr. Norio Asano, who is an experienced philatelist from Akita, Japan, has been collaborating with (late) Mr. Ko-ichi Furuya - pioneer of Japanese revenue study - and has succeeded in forming this specialized collection, which gained the Vermeil award at the JAPEX2016 exhibition. The collection contains numerous materials transferred from Furuya collection, including iconic materials shown in monographs and catalogs, compiled in total of 86 leafs.

There are hitherto only two publications on specialized collection of Japan hand engraved documentary revenues, e.g. Furuya (2003) and Hasegawa (2022), and even in those world-level collections, the 3rd issue materials are relatively limited.

This Asano collection is considered to be the most comprehensive and specialized collection of the 3rd Issue revenue stamps, and I hope this Collection Room may serve as a basic reference for collecting and studying this intriguing series.
