Kenji Omura / Kenji Shock
This album is one of the true masterpiece fusion album done by Japanese guitarists. Kenji Omura was well-known for his guitar performance with Yellow Magic Orchestra in early 1980's worldwide. I use the word "was" because this greatest Japanese guitarist is gone. (Kenji passed away in November 18,1998 at the age of 49. This album "Kenji Shock" was his second solo album and has been reissued very first time on CD in the winter of 2000. This album is full of awesome smooth soulful guitar play made by Kenji Omura supported by L.A. top musicians including supporting guitarists like Steve Lukather and Lee Ritenour, and other TOTO members, i.e. Jeff Porcaro, Mike Porcaro and David Paich. Kenji's guitar play on this album would be as great as other giant guitarists like Larry Carlton. Highly recommendable fusion album of late 1970's!
