Bugatti & Musker / The Dukes

Bugatti & Musker: Dominic Bugatti (real name: Dominic Roy King) and Frank Musker, are known as the UK songwriting duo for their smash hit songs such as "Modern Girl" performed by Sheena Easton, "Every Woman In The World" performed by Air Supply ranked number 5 on US Single Chart in 1980, and "Every Home Should Have One" performed by Patti Austin in 1981 as the title track of her album. The history of the duo should be back to early 1970’s. In 1973, Bugatti & Musker released a single “Out Of Town Shuffle” c/w “We Might As Well Say Goodbye” on RSO Record in UK. Several singles by the duo followed in mid 1970’s on Epic, UK. “Dancing with the Captain” (1976) sung by Paul Nicholas, acclaimed UK actor / singer reached top 10 in UK. In 1976 the duo also released a Disco single “Ain't No Smoke Without Fire” c/w “ Dogs In The Yard” under the name of King Musker Band for Epic, USA. The duo wrote “A Woman in Love” for Twiggy, the UK iconic model, actress in 1977 and subsequently covered by Three Degrees, which reached top 3 on UK single chart.
In 1981, Bugatti & Musker made a promotional vinyl under April Music for showcasing their recorded music library for radio, tv and film, which featured early version of the three songs “Survivor”, “Love Dance” and “Fate” later on the album “Dukes”.
Finally, the Bugatti & Musker released the duo full album “Dukes” produced by Arif Mardin on Wea Records,USA in 1982. The album did not sell well but among us without question the masterpiece. The album was firstly reissued on 23 June, 1999 by Warner Music Japan, which was straight reissue. The 2016 nice price reissued CD edition was surprising because three bonus tracks are added, all of which are B-side tracks of singles from the album. “My Simple Heart” was well known by the Three Degrees version, and “Every Woman In The World” well known by Air Supply’s version.
