Eric Carmen / Winter Dreams

0

Widely known for his solo debut hit single “All By Myself” in 1976 (20 years later very popular by its cover version by Celine Dion), and / or the voice of Raspberries, the popular power pop group in early 1970’s, Eric Carmen released his fifth solo album “Winter Dreams” only for Japan in January 1998. It took thirteen years after the 1984 release of his self-titled fourth solo album on Geffen, USA.

The album includes Carmen’s self cover version of "Almost Paradise" duet with Janey Clewer, which was top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1984 as the Love Theme from the movie Footloose. The basic tracks of the album were recorded solely by Carmen, thus no real drums, but some guest musicians added their touches, including Bruce Gaitsch and Wally Bryson (ex Raspberries) on guitar. The result made it very good late 1990’s power pop album. “I Wanna Take Forever Tonight” was performed by Peter Cetera on 1995 album “One Clear Voice”.
Two years later from Japanese original release , the album became available also in USA as the re-titled album “I Was Born To Love You”, but the song “ Caroline No” was deleted on USA edition.
