Day of the dreamer / Renaissance

2000年発表だが、曲目からアルバム「A Song for All Seasons 」リリース当時の1978年頃のライヴ録音だと思う。Back home once again が収録されているのは私が知る限りこのCDのみで大変貴重だ。

One of the most innovative bands to emerge on to the Progressive Rock Scene in the 70's. Renaissance were to bring into the music arena a unique blend of classical, folk and rock. Plus the icing on the cake was an operatically trained voice that was never to be equalled in that genre.
Contained in this body of songs are some of the best live' performances captured by Annie Haslam, Michael Dunford, John Tout, Jon Camp and Terry Sullivan. There is a vibrant vitality encompassed in these performances which highlight the special talents that these musicians own.
'Back Home Once Again' is particularly special, as this is the only 'live' recording of this song that has ever been released. It was the theme tune for a very popular TV series in the UK called the 'Paper Lads'. A Song for all Seasons is another song that really does sound great 'live', also a first time release.
If you were lucky enough to experience this band at a concert you will be more than satisfied with this compilation. They manage to give the impression of full orchestra with only five people, quite a mammoth task considering the limitations of the electronic instruments at that time. A band that still carries a
'sound' like no other that has stood the test of time, and is still gathering new and young fans worldwide.
There is no age limit to appreciate this music, it is timeless. Sit back and drift away into a landscape of Ocean Gypsies and days of dreamlike stories.
Day of the Dreamer will surely take you there.
