Byrne & Barnes / An Eye For Eye
The acclaimed Robert Byrne's first solo album "Blame It On The Night" original vinyl was deleted from Mercury Records USA Catalogue only several months after its release in 1979 whilst was released in September 1980 in Japan.
In spite of the rapid deletion of his first album, Robert Byrne started recording session for his second album. In December 1981, Tokuma Musical Industries, Japan released "An Eye For An Eye" under the name of the duo unit "Byrne & Barnes". All the tunes on this album are really fashionable and sophisticated pop tunes. After Byrnes & Barnes project, we could find Robert Byrne producing works like Pointer Sisters and/or Patti Austin and his songwriting works for Pop Country singers such as Ronnie Milsap. Brandon Barnes is also known for his producing and songwriting works with Brian McKnight.
Robert Bellarmine Byrne, born on 10 July, 1954, RIP 27 June, 2005, wrote many chart topping hits for major artists including the number one singles "How Do I Turn You On" by Ronnie Milsap (1986), after working at legendary Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, in the 1970’s. Michael Brandon Barnes, native of Gadsden, Alabama, wrote many songs for Brian McKnight, Anne Murray, Crystal Gayle, Ronnie Milsap, Boys II Men, Philip Bailey, Phil Collins, Stephen Bishop and Earth, Wind & Fire.
In 2001, the album was reissued on CD first time and we were very surprised because two unreleased materials "That's The Way She Goes" and "Who's That Look In Your Eye" were added. Those two songs were originally prepared for this album and the master tape of those materials was lost due to the fire of the studio. The original artworks could not be used for the 2001 reissued CD because the designer of the artwork could not be found and thus Dreamsville had to give up using the original artworks then. We had to wait until 2011 to have the reissued CD with original artworks.
