Andrew Gold / Warm Breezes
California born Andrew Gold, a member of the legendary Bryndle, alongside Kenny Edwards, Wendy Waldman, and Karla Bonoff, the multi-instrumentalist and arranger for Linda Ronstadt's mid 1970’s albums, began a career as a solo artist in 1975 with self-titled debuted album. His 1976 second solo album “What's Wrong With This Picture?” and the following third solo album “All This and Heaven Too” were commercially successful. His popularity in the U.K. was so significant that he was asked to join 10cc in the early 1980s, which was declined. Having said that, Gold linked up with Graham Gouldman of 10cc and they formed Wax in 1983, releasing three albums before disbanded in 1989.
In the 1990s, Gold re-formed Bryndle with ex-bandmates and released their self-titled first full-length album in 1995. Then in 1996, Gold released the children's Halloween-oriented novelty album “Halloween Howls” with John Waite and also released his solo album ”....Since 1951”.
Speaking of Gold’s popularity in Japan, he was producing the Japanese rock star Eikichi Yazawa’s 8 albums between 1984 and 1994, and his songs were running on TV everyday in late 1980’s and early 1990’s. The 1999 "Warm Breezes" is the Andrew Gold's special works collection album. It means that this album is featuring 2 brand-new CM songs running on Japanese TV "Warm Breezes" for Budwiser Beer and "This House This Home" for NTT Communications plus 7 CM songs which were released on his CM Collection CD “Where The Heart Is - The Commercials 1988-1991” (Rackyo Records - Pony Canyon, Japan PCCY-00209).
On 3 June, 2011, Andrew Gold died peacefully after a courageous three-year battle with cancer at age 59. RIP, Andrew.
