Samuel Purdey / Musically Adrift
Samuel Purdey suddenly appeared in front of us in 1999 from Brighton, Sussex UK. They were said to be the true succesor of Steely Dan then. Before Samuel Purdey, Barney Hurley was touring with Jamiroquai and Mother Earth, as well as occasional session appearances with amongst others. Gavin also had a life before Samuel Purdey recording and touring with Jamiroquai. The duo signed to Good Sound Records, Japan and released their first and
only album “Musically Adrfit”. On the album, the duo had the musicians closely worked with Steely Dan; Elliot Randall and Frank Floyd. And 5 songs of were mixed by Elliot Scheiner. Their sounds is a kind of the alternative approach of Steely Dan if Donald Fagen and Walter Becker were young in late 1990's.
The ‘Remastered’ version of Musically Adrift was released in January, 2009 by Grey Dog’s Records in Japan with an exclusive bonus track “ Help Me See”.
