Ole Boskov / Mr. Romance
Ole Boskov was a singer/songwriter from Denmark. He released his debut album “Listen to the Wind” in 1996 under his own label PM Records and his second album “Mr. Romance” followed in 1998. The album contains 9 brand new songs. Ole, himself explained his music background as follows:
"Some of my greatest influences have been artists like: Bruce Hornsby, John Hiatt, Van Morisson, The Band, Eagles, Don Henley, Little Feat, Billy Joel and Elton John. These are the ones that have influenced me the most, but of course there are so many great artists that I have listened to through the years. I have also been very much into listening to Jazz and I am a great fan of players like: Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Joe Zawinul, Oscar Peterson, Michel Camillo and Erroll Garner. I am a very Pop influenced person and I love good pop songs, so my big ambition is to make quality pop that has a broad appeal but which can also be enjoyed by the more esoteric listener. I like to write songs to educate people a little bit, and put in things which I have found to be working for me and then forward this onto others and maybe they will get a win and find something new out themselves."
Actually Boskov’s music reminded me of good mid 1970's westcoast music such as early years Eagles, Poco and/or Fools Gold. Although he was not US residents, he had some kind of typical American country rock feeling and further his music seemed to be mixed up with early 80's westcoast sound.
In 2011 Ole Boskov died after a long battle with of liver cancer at age 48.
