Burnt By The Sun
Once Amy Sky was successfully releasing her solo debut release “Cool Rain” and acting the key role of the musical “Blood Brothers” for fifteen weeks in 1996, she was not stopping to move on. Sky completed her next solo album "Burnt By The Sun" and released it in April 1998. On this album, Amy revealed how she could write various type of songs and how she could sing in various styles. Some songs are like those of Cheryl Crow's in late 1990's, some songs are like those of good old late 1970's Westcoast Music. "Soul On Soul", a duet song with her spouse Marc Jordan must be one of the finest songs of 1998. Amy sings her personal life on this album; "Forgiveness" is dedicated to her father who passed away in 1997 and "Ordinary Miracles" is the birth celebration song towards her kids. Amy said then "With this record I'm trying to reflect the reality of life as a 30 something working woman, wife, mother and daughter. At the same time, I feel as if who I am as a person and who I am as a performer are coming together. Everything I am, everything I want to be, is gelling - vocally, lyrically, musically."
Amy was nominated for The Juno Award "Songwriter of the Year" in 1998 by this album.
