マーティン・スコセッシ監督がプロデュースし、スコセッシが“Feel Like Going Home”、ヴィム・ヴェンダースが“The Soul of a Man”、マイク・フィギスが“Red, White and Blues”、リチャード・ピアースが“The Road to Memphis”、チャールズ・バーネットが“Warming by the Devil's Fire”、マーク・レヴィンが“Godfathers and Sons”、クリント・イーストウッドが“Piano Blues”と7人の監督が“Blues”をテーマに作ったドキュメンタリー映画のサウンドトラック。
この5枚組ボックスのスゴいところは、スタイルやレーベルを超えて、かなりきちんと年代順に網羅されているからだ。
ブルースという括りなのに、エルヴィス・プレスリーの“Mystery Train”やボブ・ディランの“Highway 61 Revisited”が入っているのがお洒落なところでもある。
映画を観てから聴くも良し、このアルバムを聴いてから映画を観るも良しって感じだろうか。
