James Dexter Weatherly (born March 17, 1943) is an American singer-songwriter.Weatherly has been writing songs for almost 50 years, and was inducted to the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2014. His best-known song is "Midnight Train to Georgia" recorded by Gladys Knight & the Pips. Gladys and The Pips have recorded 12 of his songs. Ray Price has recorded 38 of Weatherly's songs. Bob Luman had a top five record with "Neither One of Us".Other artists who have recorded Weatherly songs are Glen Campbell, Kenny Rogers, Asha Puthli, Neil Diamond, Kenny Chesney and Garth Brooks.
"The People Some People Choose to Love"is the seventh album released in 1976, which did not chart.
ジム・ウェザリーはアメリカのシンガー・ソングライターです。もとはバンド「ザ・ゴーディアン・ノット」でヴァーヴに所属し、70年代はソロでRCA→Buddah→Brizacと移籍しました。グラディス・ナイト&ザ・ピップスに提供した1973年の「夜汽車よ! ジョージアへ（Midnight Train to Georgia）」はNo.1ヒットとなり、またジム・ウェザリーの最大のヒット曲になりました。どちらかいうとカントリー色を帯びた作風ですが、グラディス・ナイト&ザ・ピップスに提供した「Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye)」、「You're the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me」を含め、ソウル系にミュージシャンに提供した曲が多い印象ですね。
なお、この作品は7作目のオリジナル・アルバム。当時全然売れなかったようですが、まずまず、いい味出してます。ギターでラリー・カールトンが参加しています。
