UKでいわゆる「ブリット・ポップ」の全盛期だった頃、USでは女性ミュージシャンの台頭が見られました。1993年のSherl Crowのデビュー作が1994年ごろに売れはじめ、1995年ごろから急速に「女性もの」が注目されるようになり、ざっと思い出すだけでも Alanis Morissette / Jagged Little Pill(June 13, 1995), Joan Osborne / Relish (March 21, 1995),　Jewel / Pieces of You(February 28, 1995) ・・・などが次々と大ヒットしました。また同時期にもてはやされた「スウェディッシュ・ポップ」もThe Cardigans / Life (March 1, 1995) のほか Sophie Zelmani(1995)やPineforest Crunch(1996),Meja(1996)なども、全部実は女性ばかりでした。

いまでは半分忘れられたリサ・ローブは、そのブームのなかで出てきた人です。青春群像を描いた1994年の映画「リアリティ・バイツ」で使用された"Stay"は「まだメジャー契約していないのにNo.1ヒットになった唯一の曲」として伝説になっています。この曲のヒットの1年後にようやく発表されたデビュー作は、曲想がめまぐるしく変化する"It's Over"で驚かせ、また"Taffy"などパンキッシュな曲も収録し、生ギターを中心とした曲だけでない、懐の深さで聴かせる名作でした。

この作品のアナログは非常に珍しく、再プレスもされておらず、いまでは2万円前後でないと見かけない貴重盤になってしまっています。価値を知らないお店でまれに激安で見かけましたが、最近はほとんど見なくなりました。CDは日本盤はボートラ入り、ほか「パープル・テープ」からの3曲を含むボーナス・ディスク付きのデラックス・エディション（確かオーストラリア盤）があります。
