ローリング・ストーンの選ぶオールタイム・グレイテスト・アルバム500において第142位で、クリスマス・コンピの大名盤として有名な作品です。1963年9-10月に録音され、11月22日に発売されました。1963年発売当時の題名は"A Christmas Gift for You from Philles Records"で、その後に"from Phil Spector"に変更されました。ザ・ロネッツ、ボブ・B・ソックス＆ブルージーンズ、クリスタルズ、ダーレン・ラヴが参加しています。ブライアン・ウィルソンも参加したかったようですが、演奏のレベルが低くフィル・スペクターに却下されたようです。

なお、この作品はプロモ用の白ラベルが存在し、その後は黒/灰色ラベルの1stプレスがあり、その次のラベルが黄/オレンジ色だと聞いたことがあるのですが、この写真の盤のランアウトでは「10-24-63」となっております。これは白ラベルのプロモ盤に刻まれた日付と同じようです。。。どういうことでしょうか・・・？？　なお、ランアウトに刻まれている日付は「10-29-63」のヴァージョンもあるようです。

A Christmas Gift for You from Phil Spector (originally released as A Christmas Gift for You from Philles Records) is an album of Christmas songs, produced by Phil Spector, and originally released as Philles 45 in 1963. Spector treated a series of mostly secular Christmas standards to his "Wall of Sound" treatment, and the selections feature the vocal performances of Spector's regular artists during this period. The album peaked at number 13 on Billboard magazine's special, year-end, weekly Christmas Albums sales chart in December 1963.
