In 2007, Aston Martin finally achieved the LMGT1 class win in Le Mans with the No. 009 car. It was Aston Martin's first class victory in Le Mans since their overall victory back in 1959. The No. 009 car had a battle with the sister No. 007 car during the early part of the race and then with the surviving No. 63 Corvette in the latter part of the race. Near the end of the race, I remember the rain started to fall which eventually brought out the safety car. This was rather unfortunate for the No. 63 Corvette team as they were a bit faster than the No. 009 Aston Martin during the rain. Eventually, this No. 009 car would win its class, a single lap ahead of the No. 63 Corvette.
