After the disaster of 1997, Nissan made some upgrades to the R390 GT1, most notable being the longer rear end. During qualifying for the race, the Nissans were outpaced by pretty much all of their main rivals. During the actual race however, the 4 Nissan R390's would all finish in the top 10, with the #32 car actually finishing 3rd overall. Although the Nissans had some brief stints in the lead, the Porsche 911 GT1-98 was just too fast for them and it sort of feels like Nissan focused too much on making the car reliable and probably underestimated the opposition. Still, only the Porsche 911 GT1-98 cars would be able to beat the Nissans.
This #30 car I believe is now owned by Erik Comas, one of the drivers for the Nissan team. He actually drove the #31 car in this race. He had this car turned into a road-legal car and I think it is now painted in plain white with some red details.
