This #61 entry was driven by Kenny Acheson, Mauro Baldi, and Gianfranco Brancatelli, and they finished the race in 2nd place, several laps behind their teammates in the #63 entry. For most of the race, I believe this car was actually the leading Sauber. Unfortunately, they faced some issues which caused some delays in the pits which dropped them a bit and allowed their teammates in the #63 car to close up. Eventually, the Saubers took the lead when their opposition faced trouble, most notably the Jaguars which were in the lead when they faced major issues. Unfortunately, I believe brake issues caused the #61 car to have a spin which damaged their car and it took some time to repair the damage in the pits. This would allow the #63 entry to build a lead of several laps which would last until the end of the race. Upon doing some research, it appears that the #61 actually faced even more issues towards the end of the race. They had a problem with the gearbox which would have taken a long time to replace so the team decided to just put the car in a high gear and hope it would continue. It worked out and they managed to finish 2nd.
