On 'Velvets In The Dark':

"It’s about loneliness, the breakdown in a relationship and leaving town. 'Velvets In The Dark' is about solace: listening to the ‘Velvets alone in the park in the middle of the night. It’s a big thing when relationships break down especially when it’s been a long time coming so it’s quite an emotional song. But it’s also about hope and moving to a different city and what that brings with it: a fresh start."

On 'Koala Bears'

I’d been working on some short story ideas and “Koala Bears” is one which I compressed into a four minute song. The original idea was a story of a young couple who are in a home and are getting abused, there’s violence, and they decide to run away and have to resort to fending for themselves. They just drifted into this world and they had this thing within each other. The story evolved around this idea of getting interrogated but not giving anything away. So once I got this idea, I loved it, that they were a team and that they stick by each other no matter. It’s about unity and a strength in people who have been through something and they just stick together.
