2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R #3 (Daytona 24H)
Majorette 1/64 Car: Chevrolet Corvette C7.R #3 Series: 2014 Daytona 24 Hours Class: GTLM Team: Corvette Racing Drivers: Jan Magnussen, Antonio Garcia, Ryan Briscoe Result: DNF The casting isn't exactly a Corvette C7.R. It's pretty much just a normal Corvette C7 with a rear wing. Still, the livery is definitely based on the C7.R liveries though it's hard to pinpoint which one exactly since they all pretty much look the same. I just decided to list this one as the 2014 entry since that was the first year of competition for the car.

1970 Porsche 917 K #3 (Paris 1000km)
Majorette 1/64 Car: Porsche 917 K #3 Series: 1970 Paris 1000km Class: S Team: Gesipa Drivers: Willi Kauhsen, Jurgen Neuhaus Result: DNF Majorette's Porsche 917 K casting is definitely one of my favorites from them. What makes me appreciate them even more is that pretty much every release of it are based on actual cars. This one in particular is based on the Gesipa entry in the 1970 Paris 1000km race. Unfortunately, although the car qualified well, it didn't finish the race. If I remember correctly, the 1970 Paris 1000km race is also notable for being Jack Brabham's final race as a full-time driver. He did make some one-off appearances in the later years though, mostly in the Bathurst 1000 races in Australia.

Majorette 1/64 Car: Porsche 917 K #35 Series: 1970 World Sportscar Championship - Watkins Glen 6 Hours Class: S5.0 Team: International Martini & Rossi Racing Team Drivers: Gerard Larrousse, Gijs van Lennep Result: 9th overall, 8th in S5.0 I think I've mentioned before that this particular Porsche 917 K also participated in a Can Am race held during the same weekend as the Watkins Glen 6 Hours in pretty much the same deco. Personally, I have the car listed as the Watkins Glen 6 Hours entry.

1971 Shadow Mk. II - Chevrolet #101 (Can-Am)
Hot Wheels 1/64 1999 First Editions 20/26 Series: 1971 Can-Am Series Team: Advanced Vehicle Systems Driver: Jackie Oliver Result: 14th This Shadow Mk. II casting is based on the 1971 Can-Am entry by Shadow. The casting itself is actually called the "Shadow Mk. IIA" but I am not exactly sure if there even is a Mk. IIB in real life. I am assuming that this might be because they probably based this casting on the early season entries which was pretty much all black in color. A few races into the season, the Shadow team changed to a black and white color scheme but I am not too sure if they also changed anything to the car. The #101 car that season was driven by Jackie Oliver. Unfortunately for the Shadow team, their Chevrolet-powered was extremely outgunned by the also Chevy-powered cars from the McLaren team. The best finish for the team was a 3rd place in the 8th round of the season which also was the only race wherein they scored points. The Shadow team would continue to improve the following years and in 1974, they would win the Can-Am championship with Jackie Oliver still driving for them. Can-Am cars I think are a rarity in 1/64 scale. In fact, I believe this Hot Wheels casting is the only licensed version that is quite easy to obtain. I believe there are some Summer and Yatming castings that depict some Can-Am racers but they are of lower quality and the liveries don't really seem to be real. This is my 2nd version of the Shadow casting already, the first one I have is from the Happy Birthday 5-Pack which is now absolutely battered. I forgot to add, one of the Majorette releases of the Porsche 917 K, specifically, the psychedelic Martini #35 car could also act as a Can-Am car. I personally listed mine as the 1970 Watkins Glen 6 Hours entry but the Can-Am race held at the same track on the same weekend also featured that car with pretty much the exact same livery minus some stickers.

1965 Cheetah GT - Chevrolet #64 (USRRC - Road America 500 Miles)
Hot Wheels 1/64 1998 First Editions 38/40 Casting is called "Cat-A-Pult" Series: 1965 USRRC Road America 500 Miles Class: O2L Team: C.A. Clusserath Driver: Budd Clusserath Result: 12th overall, 6th in O2L This car is actually a generic casting named "Cat-A-Pult" but it seems to be heavily based on the Bill Thomas Cheetah cars from the 60's. The livery on this one seems to be based on the 1965 USRRC entries. I am not too familiar with the series and the only race that I can find pictures of the Cheetah from that season was in the Road America 500 Miles which is why I listed it as that in my collection. The Cheetah was developed by Bill Thomas who specialized in tuning Chevy cars. The Cheetah, compared to its rival the Shelby Cobra, wasn't really as successful. If I am not mistaken, the car didn't really achieve major victories although it did manage to win some SCCA races. I would also like to note that the actual car was actually closed cockpit but I've seen several versions of the Cheetah that are open-top and they look quite similar to this casting.
