ELP再結成に合わせてリリースされた、アトランティック時代の二枚組ベストアルバム。
同じアトランティック所属だったツェッペリンやイエスのように四枚組リマスターCDセットを出して欲しかったが、叶わず。
その悲痛の叫びに応えたのか、ヴィクトリーから四枚組ボックスセット「リターン・オブ・ザ・マンティコア」がリリースされている。

ELPのベスト盤は何作がありますが、私自身これがベスト・オブ・ベスト・アルバムと確信しております。
